Faleeha Hassan was born in Najaf, Iraq 1967. She is a prolific writer and poet and is very active on the literary scene in the US where she lives presently. She has won many awards for her poetry, in the US the Moonstone Chapbook Contest 2019, and the silver medal in the poetry festival in Serbia 2018.
Her English collection of poetry ‘Transcendant Zero’ was nominated for the Pullitzer prize for poetry 2016.
She writes in both English and Arabic. In English she has published: ‘Drop of Water’ 2019, ‘Mass Grave’ 2017, ‘Butterfly’s Voice’ , ‘Let’s Strongly Celebrate My Day’ 2015, ‘Part of Me’, ‘We Grow Up At Speed of War’ 2016.
In Arabic: ‘Five Addresses for My Friend the Sea’ 1998, ‘Far from the Spider, My Protector Is A Dove , I Hate My City, and Other Stories’, ‘While Drinking Tea in New Jersey’, and ‘A Lack of Happiness Cells’ 2008
