ales of the Bridge represents nostalgia for a beautiful period of time when Abdulrazeq lived in his home village in the depth of the south of Egypt. To him, the village resembles the lost paradise and the bridge that bore witness to the lives of its inhabitants. The varied and colourful characters of the village and their stories make Tales of the Bridge a joyful read about a beautiful and unspoilt part of the world.
It is also a story of a life journey, from the village to the city, and the many difficulties, as well as happy times, encountered during Abdul Razeq’s journey. In it, he explains his ambition and tenacity in embarking on a career in which he had no support. When the writer eventually returns, after travelling around the world, to the old bridge he finds it has changed, and all that remains are memories of a beautiful time past.
